I'm LaDonna, a CBT therapist, who helps Black women with anxiety and depression decrease the severity of symptoms related to those mental illnesses by teaching skills to cope with and release feelings that keep us stuck.
How Can I Help?
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) can help your process through life events, transitions, and past trauma. Talk therapy can help you increase awareness of beliefs, thoughts, and feelings regarding experiences that have impacted you. Engaging in CBT can help alter damaging thoughts and beliefs you may have about the world or yourself.
What Can You Expect When Working With Me
As a Black woman, I’ve experienced first hand the anxiety that comes with living in a society not built for us to succeed. I’m passionate about creating a safe space to help clients work through traumatic experiences that may be holding them back from moving forward, through the means of active listening, empathy and non-judgment. In the beginning of our journey together, there will be a lot of sharing of experiences that has shaped you as an individual. Additionally, there will be validation of your feelings regarding those experience and compassion as you enter towards a stage of healing. Lastly, your will be encouraged to learn and practice skills such as cognitive reframing and thought recording to monitor any patterns or belief systems that may not serve you anymore.
What I Do For Fun
I'm an avid tennis player and I love to travel with my husband and friends, as well as listen to music and try new restaurants.
