How to Cope with Anxiety

Many things in life can contribute to anxiety, whether it’s sweaty palms during an important job interview, an increased heart rate while getting ready for a first date, or a sense of panic as bills pile up on a kitchen table. Anxiety can creep up on someone without a warning when they are faced with these types of stressful situations. It can negatively affect their life and cause them to miss out on opportunities. Severe anxiety can lead to physical problems such as headaches, digestive issues, and weight loss. It’s important to take control of one’s anxiety and not let it severely impact the quality of life. Everyone copes with anxiety differently and it’s important to find out what works for you individually.

Here are some ways to combat anxiety:

Write Down Your thoughts

Writing down your thoughts gives you the ability to vent about whatever is bothering you. You might feel a sense of relief after pouring out all the negative thoughts into a notebook. This is also a great option if you don’t feel comfortable sharing with others.

A cup of joe is a part of lot of people’s morning routine, but too much caffeine can cause nervousness and jitters.

Get a Good Night’s Rest

Sometimes it can be hard to go to bed at a good time due to a busy schedule or a TikTok addiction but it’s important to get a good night’s rest. Try to stop phone use an hour before bed and keep the room dark and cool.

Stay Active

Staying active is a huge part of living a healthy lifestyle. Pick up a new active hobby like biking, yoga or hiking to get your heart racing in a good way! Fresh air and sun can also be calming and encourage a more positive mood.
